Seminar discusses measures to further boost Vietnam-Brazil relations

An international seminar entitled ‘Solutions to further boost the Vietnam-Brazil relations in the new context’ was held in Hanoi on August 2, gathering Vietnamese and foreign experts, scientists, managers, and enterprises.

Co-organised by the Vietnam Institute of American Studies (VIAS) under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) as well as the Brazilian Embassy in Vietnam, the event is among the activities celebrating the 35th anniversary of Vietnam – Brazil diplomatic ties (1989-2024).

In his welcome speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ta Minh Tuan, VASS Vice President, said that despite their geographical distance, Vietnam and Brazil have many similarities in culture, history, and development.

He expressed his hope that the seminar will provide proposals and policy suggestions to further promote Vietnam – Brazil relations in the coming time.

For his part, Brazilian Ambassador Marco Farani emphasised that Brazil always supports Vietnam in its development process and shared his hope that the bilateral relations will continue to be strengthened and developed based on mutual respect and support, thus laying the foundation for deeper and more sustainable cooperation in the future.

Brazil is currently Vietnam's largest trading partner in Latin America, with two-way trade hitting 7.11 billion USD in 2023.

Reports at the seminar reviewed the state of Vietnam – Brazil relations in recent years, as well as the potential and opportunities for cooperation between the two countries across various fields, from agriculture and science and technology to defence and education.

The delegates also analysed the opportunities and challenges facing Vietnamese enterprises when penetrating the Brazilian market, thus proposing measures and policy suggestions to further boost the bilateral trade ties.

Brazil is currently Vietnam's largest trading partner in Latin America, with two-way trade hitting 7.11 billion USD in 2023.
