A high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, attended the meeting and paid a working visit to China. Vietnam’s attendance at the event made important contributions to the overall success of the meeting while the working visit helped to further consolidate and strengthen the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and China, thus bringing it to new heights.

Appreciating Vietnam's position and contributions

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh was one of the few government leaders invited by WEF and host country China to attend the conference two years in a row. This shows that WEF and China attach great importance to Vietnam's position, role, and contribution to global economic growth, as well as to Vietnam's development amidst the world economic future.

WEF Founder and Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab praised Vietnam as a dynamic economy and an economic growth model.

Speaking at the plenary session of the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh pointed out three trailblazing areas: (1) Development of digital economy; (2) Development of green economy and circular economy; and (3) Development of high-quality human resources and AI in the fourth industrial revolution.

The evolution of these transformative areas will usher in the "next frontiers for growth" with profound and far-reaching impacts on every person and sector all around the world.

He called for fostering trust, promoting dialogue, and bolstering the spirit of solidarity, unity, cooperation, and development to embark on the "Next Frontiers for Growth.”

He also stressed the need to effectively address regional and global issues based on principles of laws and ensure the harmonious interests of all parties involved, while not politicalising nor discriminating in global science, technology, and innovation.

The Vietnamese Government leader then met Professor Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF), on the sidelines of the meeting.

Schwab expressed his impression of Chinh’s message delivered at the plenary session, noting the WEF and its member groups highly value Vietnam’s prospects, investment environment, and economic achievements.

The WEF welcomes Vietnam to join its Fourth Industrial Revolution Network, he said, noting the occasion as an opportunity for the country to share technology knowledge and enhance cooperation in science-technology and innovation.

Schwab also conveyed an invitation to Chinh to attend the WEF annual meeting in Davos in 2025.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s speech also impressed Chinese participants as he quoted a Chinese proverb that says, “A single tree does not make a forest,” and President Ho Chi Minh’s motto “Unity, unity, great unity. Success, success, great success.”

“Let us uphold the spirit of solidarity, cooperation, resolve, and responsibility and remain perseverant and resilient. Every nation, enterprise, and individual should unite in pursuit of the next frontiers for growth, prosperous development of the world, and a happier and better life for all people,” he stated.

Promoting cooperation in developing transport infrastructure

On the occasion of his attendance at the WEF annual meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also paid a successful working trip to China, during which he held meetings with top Chinese leaders in a sincere, open, and friendly atmosphere.

At the meeting with Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President of China, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested the two sides constantly adapt their mindsets, take innovative measures, and stay resolved to fruitfully implement high-level common perceptions and agreements.

The event attracted the participation of Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing and numerous businesses from both countries.

In his speech, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called for China’s assistance in preferential loans and advanced technology to develop transport, especially green transport, green transformation, human resource training, and smart governance.
