Among the total 288 patients, 148 were imported and the remaining were infected with the coronavirus in the community.
So far, the country has reported no deaths from the disease.
Also on May 8, eight patients were declared fully recovered, raising the total number of recoveries to 241.
The remaining 47 cases are under treatment at six health facilities, of whom 10 tested negative once and four negative at least twice.
As many 16,525 people having close contact with the patients and entering the country from pandemic-hit areas are being quarantined, including 162 at hospitals, 6,693 at concentrated quarantine areas, and 9,670 at home.
