Son La and Lao's Phongsaly Province foster partnership

High-ranking delegations of the central province of Son La and Phongsaly Province of Laos held talks and signed a new cooperation agreement in Phongsaly Province on July 16.

This is an activity in the series of commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (September 5, 1962 - 2022) and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (July 18, 1977 - 2022).

At the talks, the two sides agreed to continue cooperation in various fields, especially regarding coordination in human resource training, building effective agricultural development models, developing tourism, and attracting investment.

At the talks, the two provinces discussed, agreed and signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the period of 2022-2024, focusing on closely coordinating to strengthen the communication work on the tradition of special solidarity and friendship, the comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in general, and between the provinces of Son La and Phongsaly in particular.

The two provinces also signed a MoU to regularly coordinate in organising trade and investment promotion activities; continue to coordinate and exchange information, ensure political security; implement regulations on foreign affairs and organise coordination in the prevention and combat of cross-border drug crimes.

Meanwhile, Son La Province continues to receive students from Phongsaly Province to study and train Vietnamese in the province and some other important contents.
