Consumer price index rises 3.25% in eight months

The consumer price index (CPI) in August 2025 increased by 0.05% compared to the previous month, mainly due to higher rental housing costs and dining-out expenses. The August CPI rose by 2.18% compared to December 2024 and by 3.24% year on year. During the first eight months of 2025, the CPI increased by 3.25% compared to the same period in 2024.

June and second quarter CPI see sharp rises year-on-year

Viet Nam’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) in June 2025 increased by 0.48% from the previous month and by 3.57% year-on-year. This was mainly due to the unusual surge in prices of housing maintenance materials—particularly sand, stone, and bricks—and higher fuel prices in line with global trends.

May CPI up 0.16%, driven by housing and utility costs

Viet Nam’s consumer price index (CPI) rose by 0.16% in May compared to April, mainly due to higher costs for rental housing, home maintenance materials, electricity and dining out, the National Statistics Office under the Ministry of Finance reported on June 6.
