Data has become the “new oil” and the lifeblood of the global digital economy. As a result, the data economy is emerging as a new strategic arena of competition among nations. In Viet Nam, data is projected to contribute up to 79 billion USD to GDP by 2030, while generating revenues estimated to reach 80 billion USD by the same year.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, who heads the National Steering Committee on Data, chaired its first meeting on January 12.

The year 2025 marks a significant turning point as Viet Nam’s data economy moves beyond a policy concept to become embedded in the national development architecture and translated into practice at the local level.
