Brazil lies halfway around the globe from Viet Nam. A direct flight from Ha Noi to Rio de Janeiro takes 25 hours, including a technical stop en route. Yet the fatigue of such a long journey seemed to dissipate as Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his spouse, and the high-level Vietnamese delegation were welcomed with warmth, sincerity, and great respect by their Brazilian hosts.

Brazil’s Correio Braziliense newspaper on July 8 published an article by Vietnamese Ambassador to Brazil Bui Van Nghi, who affirmed that the relationship between the two countries is developing strongly, evidenced by the outcomes of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s recent working visit for attendance in the expanded BRICS Summit and bilateral activities.

With nearly 40 productive engagements on the sidelines of the Expanded BRICS Summit 2025 and meetings with senior leaders of countries and international organisations, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit to Brazil has significantly contributed to elevating Viet Nam’s global role and status.
