General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Viet Nam People's Army and Deputy Minister of National Defence, received visiting Senior Lieutenant General Saichay Kommasith, Chief of the General Staff of the Lao People’s Army and Deputy Minister of National Defence of Laos, in Hanoi on March 9.

A delegation from the Department of Political Education under the General Department of Politics of the Viet Nam People’s Army (VPA), led by its head Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Van Duc, held talks with its Lao counterpart, headed by Maj. Gen. Keosouvanh Phangphilavong in Vientiane on November 10, praising tight collaboration under their annual plan.

The great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Laos are of importance to the cause of national construction and defence in each country, forming an enduring principle of their survival and development, said State President Luong Cuong.

Lieut. Gen. Vongsone Inpanphim, Deputy Minister of Defence, Chairman of the General Department of Politics of the Lao People’s Army (LPA), and his spouse are paying an official visit to Viet Nam from August 10 - 14, at the invitation of General Trinh Van Quyet, Chairman of the General Department of Politics of the Viet Nam People’s Army (VPA).
