Urgent resettlement needed after devastating floods in Nghe An

The historic floods triggered by the remnants of storm No. 3 (Wipha) in July this year ravaged the western communes of Nghe An Province, sweeping away and severely damaging hundreds of homes. The destruction did not end there - subsequent storms No. 5 (Kajiki) and No. 10 (Bualoi) further expanded the list of households urgently requiring relocation due to heightened landslide risks.

Post-storm floods damage nearly 1,600 houses in northern localities

Heavy rains and flooding triggered by Storm Matmo, the 11th to hit the East Sea/South China Sea this year, had damaged 1,577 houses and inundated 10,267 others as of 5pm on October 11, causing total losses of about 7.05 trillion VND (over 267 million USD), reported the Disaster and Dyke Management Authority under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
