Alongside its undeniable benefits and positive value, cyberspace is facing a rise in harmful, deviant, and even unlawful content, with worrying consequences for social life.

The Vietnamese Government will impose fines of up to 50 million VND (about 1,900 USD) on social media users who share fabricated or false information, as part of a broad new decree aimed at tightening control over digital platforms.

Currently, more than 90% of Vietnamese children use the internet — equivalent to around 15 million “digital citizens” growing up with smartphones, social media, and AI algorithms. This group represents both a large potential consumer segment and a population at high risk of legal and safety violations on social media if not properly protected and guided.
