General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee and President To Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation left Canberra at noon on August 12 (local time), concluding their four-day state visit to Australia and departing for a state visit to New Zealand.

Head of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) Central Committee’s Commission for Publicity Trinh Van Quyet led a delegation comprising officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Voice of Viet Nam (VOV), and Viet Nam News Agency (VNA), to visit the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) in Sydney on August 10 (local time).

At the invitation of Australian Governor-General Sam Mostyn, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee and State President of Viet Nam To Lam, together with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, is paying a state visit to Australia. The visit marks an important historic milestone in bilateral relations, as it is the first time a Vietnamese General Secretary and State President has visited Australia.

The upcoming state visit to Australia of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) Central Committee and President of Viet Nam To Lam is a highly opportune moment for Viet Nam and Australia to further deepen a relationship that has matured and is underpinned by strong political trust, Layton Pike, a member of the Australia–Viet Nam Policy Institute (AVPI)'s advisory board, said in an interview granted to the Viet Nam News Agency.

The upcoming state visit to Australia by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee and State President To Lam is expected to give fresh impetus to the Viet Nam-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, opening up new opportunities for deeper, more substantive and effective collaboration.
