The first round of negotiations for the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) between Viet Nam and the Southern Common Market (Mercosur) concluded on August 28 after five days in Buenos Aires, marking a significant step forward in strengthening economic and trade cooperation between Viet Nam and South American countries.

The delegation is tasked with assisting the Prime Minister in directing ministries, sectors and localities in the negotiation, signing, coordination of ratification and approval, as well as implementation of international treaties and agreements on economic and trade matters involving the Vietnamese State and Government.

The Singapore-based United Overseas Bank (UOB) revised its forecast projection for Viet Nam’s GDP growth upward to 6.9% for 2025 from its previous projection of 6%, following the strong performance in the second quarter.
