Typhoon Kajiki slams into Viet Nam

Typhoon Kajiki, the fifth to hit the East Sea this year, made landfall in the central provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh at 6 p.m on August 25, bringing maximum sustained winds of level 11 (117 km/h) and gusts reaching level 13, the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reported.

PM orders urgent, drastic response to Typhoon Kajiki

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on August 25 urged ministries, sectors and localities to implement drastic emergency measures at the highest level to cope with Typhoon Kajiki and flooding as it is approaching Viet Nam’s mainland with very strong intensity.

Deputy PM directs urgent response measures to Typhoon Kajiki

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha urged local athorities and relevant agencies to remain vigilant, and instructed police forces to ensure residents stay indoors from 11:00 to 18:00 on August 25 while chairing an emergency meeting on the same day to direct response measures to Typhoon Kajiki, the fifth storm to hit the East Sea/South China Sea this year.

Central region mobilises all resources to respond to Typhoon Kajiki

Facing Typhoon Kajiki, with extremely high intensity (Category 13-14, gusting to Category 16 and possibly strengthening), significant disaster risk, and complex developments expected to directly affect the mainland provinces of central Viet Nam, particularly Nghe An, Ha Tinh, and northern Quang Tri, the Prime Minister has established a forward command unit led by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha to ensure urgent and effective response.
