The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) is named the lead agency, with overall responsibility for the agreement’s general goals and definitions, trade remedies, non-tariff barriers to trade and investment in renewable energy, competition policies, State-owned enterprises, enterprises with special or exclusive rights and those with designated monopolies, as well as institutional, general and final terms.

Deputy Minister of Finance Le Tan Can had a working session with Chief Executive of UK Export Finance (UKEF) Tim Reid in Ha Noi on September 22, discussing collaboration in finance – export credits, a pillar of trade and investment ties between the two countries.

The meetings of the Viet Nam–UK Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO) and the UK–Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA) Trade Committee have delivered positive outcomes, helping to strengthen bilateral economic ties, resolve trade barriers, and create a more favourable business environment for enterprises from both countries.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a meeting in Ha Noi on June 28 with the UK business community and enterprises operating in Viet Nam, outlining a vision for long-term cooperation in key sectors aligned with Viet Nam’s newly issued “four strategic pillars”.
