Viet Nam hosted a discussion in Geneva, Switzerland, on September 29 with a focus on promoting older persons’ right to health care, highlighting the need for more comprehensive policies to ensure equal access to health services and protect the dignity and well-being of older people.

Viet Nam has been exerting efforts in protecting and promoting human rights, which could be seen in its commitments made as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for 2023–2025 and achievements during the previous two terms serving in this role.

Viet Nam has reaffirmed its active and responsible role at the 61st regular session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), which concluded in Geneva on March 31 after six weeks of meetings amid increasingly complex global developments.

Viet Nam has been re-elected to the United Nations Human Rights Council with 180 votes in favour, the highest tally among the countries elected from the Asia–Pacific group.

The 59th regular session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) has concluded with the adoption of 26 resolutions and decisions – two of which were co-sponsored and co-drafted by Viet Nam as part of a core group of nations.

Vietnam will work alongside the international community to build a world of peace, where all people, states and nations may benefit from the fruits of development and social progress, and where no one is left behind, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son has said.
