Viet Nam-Canada relations are expanding from trade cooperation to knowledge-intensive fields, including science, technology and innovation. More than two decades ago, Vietnamese businesses had already established a presence and cooperation in Canada, and the shift in relations between the two countries is opening up many new opportunities.

At the invitation of the Governor General of Canada, Louise Arbour, To Lam—General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam—is paying a state visit to Canada, accompanied by a high-level Vietnamese delegation.
