Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung and his Canadian counterpart adopted an Action Plan to implement the Viet Nam-Canada Strategic Partnership during their talks in Ottawa on September 25.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee and President To Lam has suggested that Canada’s Concordia University regard Viet Nam as a priority partner in the Asia-Pacific region, develop a long-term cooperation strategy, and shift from individual activities to a deeper partnership.

“Viet Nam is an important partner for Canada in the Indo-Pacific, as well as a valued partner within APEC and the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF)," according to a statement issued by the Office of the Governor General of Canada.

The upcoming state visit to Canada by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee and President To Lam is expected to transform the long-standing potential between the two countries into concrete plans and action programmes, ushering in a new chapter of development in their bilateral relations, according to Vietnamese Ambassador to Canada Pham Vinh Quang.

Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung stressed Viet Nam attaches importance to its relations with Canada and stands ready to work with the latter to step up substantive cooperation towards the early elevation of the Viet Nam–Canada Comprehensive Partnership, in line with the political trust, cooperation potential and interests of the two countries’ peoples.
