Bilateral ties between Viet Nam and New Zealand are gaining fresh momentum one year after the two countries elevated their relations to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, New Zealand Ambassador to Viet Nam Caroline Rachel Beresford has said.

In a congratulatory letter sent to the CPV Central Committee, James Kember, former New Zealand Ambassador to Viet Nam during 2006–2009 and currently Chair of the New Zealand Institute of International Affairs (NZIIA), conveyed his best wishes to the Party leadership.

The Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV)’s forthcoming 14th National Congress, which will review 40 years of the Doi moi (renewal) process as well as the Party’s platforms and resolutions, will provide a critical foundation for shaping the long-term development of the S-shaped nation, according to James Kember, former New Zealand Ambassador to Viet Nam (2006-2009).

The heads of APEC delegations congratulated Viet Nam on being entrusted to host APEC for the third time in 2027 and affirmed that they would actively support and closely coordinate with Viet Nam to ensure the successful organisation of APEC 2027.

Speaker of the New Zealand House of Representatives (Parliament) Gerry Brownlee will pay an official visit to Viet Nam from August 27 to 31.
