Forest Trends, in collaboration with the Handicraft & Wood Industry Association of Ho Chi Minh City (HAWA) and the Viet Nam Timber and Forest Products Association (VIFOREST), organised a workshop in Ho Chi Minh City on October 2 entitled “Building a legal, quality and sustainable domestic timber market”.

Enterprises and associations in the timber industry have emphasised the need to increase imports of US legal timber for processing and re-export by Viet Nam as a way to ensure sustainable timber trade and legal supply chains.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on April 13 stressed the need to ease difficulties and remove obstacles, especially in terms of market, institutions, and credit capital, for the production, processing and export of forest and aquatic products .
