The PM made the commitment while receiving Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano in Hanoi on January 8.
The prime minister expressed his delight at the fine collaboration between Vietnam and the IAEA in the past, hoping that the agency would provide continued support, especially in adopting nuclear energy in medicine and agriculture as well as in training personnel and building institutions and policies.
The IAEA head spoke highly of the positive role Vietnam has played in promoting nuclear security and safety in the world, citing the country’s admission to a range of international conventions on nuclear energy, including one on nuclear power.
Yukiya Amano stressed that Vietnam is one of IAEA’s important partners, pledging to support the country in deploying civil nuclear energy projects, thus helping it fulfil the UN millennium development goals.
