At the signing ceremony in Tokyo on September 18, the two sides recognised and highly appreciated the positive results recorded over the past decade, from the first steps in 2014 to comprehensive cooperation in 2018.

Such cooperation contributes to the development of Vietnamese football and promotes understanding and exchange between the two countries.

Under the renewed deal, the two governing bodies agreed to prioritise developing women’s and junior football and promoting cooperation and exchange between the two countries’ futsal.

Cooperation between V-League and J-League will also be promoted to create opportunities for Vietnamese players to play at Japan’s professional tournament, and vice versa.

Other areas of cooperation include referee training, sports medicine development and the organisation of workshops to share information, experience and knowledge on football.
