Vietnam, Lao public security sectors to enhance ties

Lao leaders have expressed hope that the Vietnamese and Lao ministries of public security would increase experience exchanges and promote bilateral co-operation in an increasingly effective manner in the near future.

Party General Secretary and State President of Laos Chummaly Sayasone and Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong made the statement at a September 6 reception to Vietnamese Minister of Public Security Lieut. Gen. Tran Dai Quang, who is on a working visit to Laos from September 5-7.

The Lao leaders affirmed that Laos - Vietnam relations are developing firmly, evidenced by the fact that two countries’ leaders reached high consensus on many important issues, especially in the fields of investment co-operation and trade.

Minister Quang said the two ministries would promote co-operation in many fields, especially personnel training and issues of mutual concern such as exchanges of information and delegations, drug and crime prevention, maintaining border security and fulfilling missions signed by the two sides this year.

Minister Quang added that the co-operation would contribute to ensuring socio-political security, serving the national construction and development of each country and fostering the Vietnam – Laos special friendly relations.
