Under the theme “Reaching to the big sea”, the event aims to promote shark catfish farming, a key industry in Dong Thap and the wider Mekong Delta region.

The festival also acts as a chance for enterprises to meet and share market information, connect supply and demand in the domestic market, and seek out potential partners in the sector.

As part of the festival, visitors will be able to experience the space dedicated to shark catfish and fish in general in Vietnamese and world culture, enjoy fine dishes made from shark catfish, and visit the farms and processing facilities.

Despite facing the impacts of COVID-19, the sector has maintained the supply chain and taken advantage of the increased demand in the post-pandemic period. It is expected to produce 1.68 million tonnes and generate export revenue of 2.4 billion USD this year.

As of November 15, the export revenue has already reached an all-time high of 2.23 billion USD.
