The CPP has just submitted the candidate to the National Assembly and there is only one candidate, said NA spokesman Leng Peng Long.

The plenary session to vote on the position will be held after the Water Festival, which takes place from November 18 to 20.

In the upcoming meeting, the NA is set only to vote for the position of its first Vice President and there are not any changes in other positions and structure. Heng Samrin, Honorary President of the CPP, is the President of the National Assembly, which has two Vice Presidents – the first Vice President Nguon Nhel and the second Vice President Khuon Sodary, a member of the CPP’s standing committee.

Cheam Yeap is currently the chairman of the NA’s Commission on Economy, Finance, Banking and Audit. He is a CPP lawmaker in Prey Veng province and has been elected to the position since 1993.
