At the meeting, Cai informed Thuan Huu of the outcomes of the working session between Xinhua and the Vietnam News Agency, where the two sides agreed on increasing cooperation in the future.
Vietnamese President also received Cai Mingzhao and the Xinhua delegation, earlier on May 24.
Cai said that 2017 is a special year for Vietnam-China relations with respective visits by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Tran Dai Quang as well as the upcoming visit by President Xi Jinping to attend the APEC Summit in Vietnam later this year.
He added that the cooperation between the two countries’ media agencies in covering each other’s socio-economic situation, along with the friendly Vietnam-China ties, helps to further nurture the fine relationship between the two countries.
Welcoming the Xinhua delegation, Nhan Dan’s editor-in-chief introduced the history, organisation and operation of the newspaper, which is currently publishing ten editions in various forms, including a Chinese-language website.
He added that Nhan Dan’s television channel is performing efficiently even though it has been on air for just two years.
Thuan Huu said Nhan Dan frequently consults with Xinhua’s reports, considering the Chinese news agency an important source for global affairs news.
At the meeting, the leaders of the two media agencies also shared their views on the challenges facing traditional journalism with the boom of internet-based news sources and social media.
They also agreed to strengthen cooperation and the exchange of professional skills in the near future.
