Immediately after the official announcement of the visit, major Australian and international news agencies and media outlets also covered the visit and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s message welcoming Party General Secretary and State President To Lam.
Many experts and scholars voiced confidence that the visit would contribute significantly to further advancing the Viet Nam–Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, bringing practical benefits to the people and business communities of both countries.
In an interview with the Viet Nam News Agency, former Australian Ambassador to Viet Nam Andrew Goledzinowski remarked that Party General Secretary and State President To Lam’s visit to Australia was not only of special political significance but was also expected to generate new momentum for realising the goals of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, opening up further opportunities for cooperation in areas such as the economy, technology, energy, and human resource development.
Andrew Goledzinowski emphasised that the visit was highly significant, particularly as it comes at a time when Viet Nam is executing an extensive reform programme to improve national governance, promote growth, and modernise its economy. This, in turn, will yield further opportunities to translate the strategic orientations of bilateral relations into concrete cooperation programmes.
Meanwhile, Professor Carl Thayer of the University of New South Wales noted that Party General Secretary and State President To Lam’s visit comes as Viet Nam and Australia are actively executing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework and fulfilling their commitment to maintaining annual meetings between the two countries’ senior leaders. The visit demonstrates the determination of both Viet Nam and Australia to maintain the momentum of bilateral relations.
