Acting FM holds phone talks with UK Foreign Secretary

During the conversation, Trung extended his congratulations to Yvette Cooper on assuming her new important position.

Expressing his delight at the effective cooperation between the two countries across all fields in recent times, he affirmed that Viet Nam always values and wishes to further strengthen the Strategic Partnership with the UK – a leading and important partner of Viet Nam in Europe.

Yvette Cooper said that the UK attaches importance to strengthening its friendship and cooperation with Viet Nam. She expressed her confidence that with the cooperation of Acting Minister Trung, the foreign ministries of both countries will continue to effectively fulfill their role in coordinating bilateral cooperation and work together to promote all-round collaboration, aiming to elevate the bilateral relationship.

She affirmed that the UK foreign ministry would continue close cooperation, efficiently carrying out delegation exchanges, high-level contacts between the two countries and between their ministries and sectors.

Appreciating the positive developments of the Viet Nam-UK Strategic Partnership recently, Trung and Cooper agreed on the need to promptly review cooperation aspects, strengthen coordinating role and closely follow action plans implementing the Strategic Partnership framework.

They also wanted to push forward cooperation agreements between both sides, negotiate and sign new cooperation documents, and create a favourable legal framework to further enhance cooperation across fields. These efforts aim to advance bilateral relations to a new phase, meeting the expectations of the two countries’ people for peace, stability, cooperation and sustainable development in the region and worldwide.

On this occasion, Acting Minister Trung respectfully invited the UK Foreign Secretary to visit Viet Nam at a suitable time. Cooper expressed her wish to soon meet Trung in person to discuss topics of mutual interest.
