National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue led a high-ranking delegation of the National Assembly of Vietnam to attend the AIPA-42 General Assembly at the invitation of the Speaker of the Legislative Council of Brunei and President of AIPA-42 President Abdul Rahman Taib.

Speaking at a recent session at the International Convention Centre in Hanoi to inspect the preparations for Vietnam’s attendance at AIPA-42, NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue emphasised that in the context of the complicated development of the COVID-19 epidemic, the Vietnamese NA has expressed its views on promoting cooperation between AIPA member parliaments and ASEAN countries on COVID-19 prevention and control, including cooperation and sharing regarding vaccines.

Leaders of the Vietnamese NA and many parliamentary leaders in the region expressed their deep concern, emphasising the importance of strengthening digital connectivity, narrowing the digital gap between countries and regions to ensure equitable and sustainable development in ASEAN.

In addition, it is proposed that AIPA actively support the Governments of ASEAN countries to promote the implementation of relevant contents to promote digital connectivity and digital universalisation in underdeveloped areas, including sub-regions of ASEAN.

The high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese NA affirmed its persistence in the foreign policy of independence and self-reliance for peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralisation, diversification, and comprehensive and extensive international integration.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, NA Chairwoman Vuong Dinh Hue will deliver a speech conveying the message of a constantly innovating Vietnam and an active and responsible Vietnamese National Assembly, contributing to regional multilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation.
