The workshop was chaired by Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of the HCMA and Chairman of the Central Theory Council.
The event was attended by Professor, Dr Le Van Loi, Deputy Director of the HCMA; Professor, Dr Tran Van Phong, Standing Member of the HCMA's Scientific Council, and representatives of central committees, ministries, sectors and scientists.
In his opening speech, Nguyen Xuan Thang emphasised that Vietnam is entering a new era of development after completing the era of independence, freedom and unification. In the new context, the study, application and creative development of Ho Chi Minh's thought are urgent and the core tasks of current theoretical work.
Orienting the tasks of theoretical research, he clearly stated that Ho Chi Minh's thought is a system of great theoretical and practical values, becoming the driving force and compass for the nation’s innovation, integration and development.
The approach to Ho Chi Minh's thought in the new era must be associated with innovative thinking, flexibility in practice, harmoniously combining stability and development, principles and adaptation, and internal and external forces.
Ho Chi Minh's thought is the foundation of Vietnam's current foreign relations, with the principles of independence, autonomy, peace, cooperation and responsibility to the international community. Creatively developing Ho Chi Minh’s thought to build a humane, progressive, trustworthy image of Vietnam and affirm its international position.
At the workshop, 40 presentations of leaders, experts and scientists were submitted and presented. From many different perspectives, the opinions and presentations focused on analysing and clarifying the content, value, significance, stature, practical vitality and longevity of Ho Chi Minh's legacy.
Delegates proposed and oriented solutions to continue promoting research, application and creative development of Ho Chi Minh's thought in the cause of national construction, development and defence; providing scientific arguments for the draft documents of the 14th National Party Congress, completing the system of theories, guidelines, policies and laws; contributing to perfecting the theory on the path of innovation, on socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam; contributing to promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality and lifestyle; strengthening political and ideological education, protecting the Party's ideological foundation, and fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints in the new situation.
