The runners competed in four distance categories: 42km, 21km, 10km, and 5 km.
The Luang Prabang race is the first leg of the Viettel Marathon Series, which includes three races held across Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam.
Jointly held by three countries' athletic federations, the inter-country marathon series is the first of its kind.
It is also the first time that Luang Prabang has hosted a race that includes a 42km category.
Following the event in Luang Prabang, the next races will be held in Hanoi on December 1 and then at Angkor Wat, Cambodia, on December 22.
According to Kieu Thi Hang Phuc, Consul General of Vietnam in Luang Prabang, Laos, Viettel Marathon is not only a sports event, but also an opportunity to increase mutual understanding between Vietnamese and Lao people, contributing to fostering great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
