Hosted by the Ministry of Finance of Viet Nam from September 30 to October 2, the conference brings together more than 300 domestic and international delegates, including around 60 representatives from eight AVA member countries, along with valuation professionals, experts, businesses and organisations from the region and beyond.
The event provides a platform for members to share experience, explore emerging trends and discuss how new approaches can be adapted to the conditions of individual countries. For Viet Nam, it also offers an opportunity to strengthen links with the international valuation community and share the country's professional practices and experience.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Nguyen Minh Tien, Director General of the Price Management Department under the Ministry of Finance, President of AVA Viet Nam and AVA President for 2025-2026, said the valuation profession was undergoing rapid and profound changes, creating both opportunities and new challenges.
Digital transformation, artificial intelligence, big data and automated valuation models are changing how information is collected, data processed, markets analysed and valuations conducted, he noted. These technologies can improve productivity and enable valuers to conduct faster and more comprehensive analysis.
However, Tien stressed that issues including data quality and reliability, the transparency of models and algorithms, information security, professional responsibility and the balance between technology and professional judgement require careful consideration.
He emphasised that while technology could change how valuations are conducted, it would not alter the profession's core values, including independence, objectivity, transparency, professional competence and ethics.
As cross-border flows of capital, assets, businesses and transactions increase, valuation challenges are increasingly shared across countries. Tien said AVA should develop beyond an annual forum into a practical and effective professional cooperation network.
At AVA28, representatives of member countries are presenting reports on valuation activities and developments in their respective markets, while experts from Viet Nam and abroad are delivering thematic presentations.
