In the second phase, an additional 52 wind turbines will be installed, with a combined capacity of 83.2 megawatts, to supplement the 10 existing turbines.
The second phase, which will cost an estimated VND4.070 trillion (US$191.29 million), has also received financing from the US Ex-Im Bank.
The first 10 turbines, with a total capacity of 16 megawatts, were completed and connected to the national power grid in May. The second phase turbines are scheduled for completion in December 2014.
The Bac Lieu wind farm is part of a larger programme to build a wind power centre in the Mekong Delta with a total capacity of 300 megawatts.
Vietnam has set targets to raise the quantity of renewable energy on the national power grid to 4.5% in 2020 and 6.0% in 2030.
