The data centre will be built, managed, and operated by the Government and will store, share, analyse, and coordinate data of State agencies to form a data centre related to the people.

Data at the National Data Centre is the core foundation providing data-related services, supporting policy making, building digital Government, society, and economy and ensuring national defence and security. It will also supply information technology infrastructure for socio-political organisations, national database systems and other agencies.

The centre is expected to be put into operation by the end of 2025.

The government resolution stated that Vietnam aims to be named within the group of 50 leading countries in e-Government, 30 leading countries in information technology, and 30 leading countries in cyber safety and security by 2030.
