Accordingly, the PM requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade take measures to increase domestic consumption of aquatic products and resolutely handle acts of profiteering, price squeezing and trade fraud.

Overseas trade representative offices manged by the ministry are required to promptly provide information on the reopening of and demand for aquatic products in foreign markets.

In addition, the government leader assigned the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) to continue closely monitoring fishing and aquatic production in Vietnam as well as the development of COVID-19 around the world, especially in the key traditional markets of Vietnam.

The ministry was asked to promptly guide and create favourable conditions for enterprises to export to new markets and sign new contracts as soon as foreign markets reopen.

The PM also suggested the MARD review and evaluate activities under seafood production linkages during this period to facilitate stages that have not yet met the appropriate requirements, such as the preservation and storage of seafood.

The ministry was also assigned to coordinate with the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to consider the application of the PM’s Decision 15/2020/QĐ-TTg, which regulates the implementation of policies to support people facing difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic, to assist ship owners and fishermen registering to suspend their operations or having had their fishing activities halted during the epidemic.
