According to the e-business index report 2024, Ho Chi Minh City continued to lead the ranking with 87 points, followed by Hanoi (84.3 points) and Binh Duong (51.3 points).

The average point of this year's index is 23.1. The gap in e-business between the two economic centres of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and the remaining provinces and cities is quite large. For example, the gap between Ho Chi Minh City and the province with the lowest position in the ranking is 76.4 points.

In particular, this year's report emphasises the issue of plastic waste from e-business to call on organisations and businesses to reduce negative impacts on the environment, contributing to promoting sustainable development of e-commerce.

The Vietnam e-business index is compiled by the VECOM from three component indexes, including human resources and information technology infrastructure, business-to-consumer (B2C) e-commerce transactions and business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce transactions.

The report continues to point out the need to implement policies and solutions to address three major issues, including the digital divide, digital human resources and the environment.

In addition, the report also recommends that state management agencies evaluate the current status and promulgate policies and laws to promote online export activities, educational technology and medical technology.
