The expressway will run 654 kilometres in total through 13 provinces and cities.

One month earlier, Deputy PM Thanh sent a telegram to ask for the acceleration of site clearance, which was expected to be completed in the second quarter but has lagged behind schedule.

After inspecting two expressway sections, the Deputy PM inspected a tunnel through the Tam Diep Mountain and chaired a meeting with local authorities, the ministries concerned and contractors involved in the projects.

He underlined the importance of the north-south expressway to socio-economic development and asked the contractors to outline any obstacles to such projects so that measures can be taken to remedy these and expedite their progress.

Thanh also asked local authorities to make efforts to complete site clearance work so that construction can be implemented as scheduled.
