Pham Quang Tung appointed Chairman of board of directors of VDB

Pham Quang Tung, Deputy General Director of the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) was appointed as Chairman of the board of directors of the Vietnam Development Bank (VDB) to replace the Acting Chairman of the board of directors of VDB Nguyen Quang Dung who retired on June 1.

Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue granted the Government decision on the appointment of the Chairman of the board of directors of the VDB to Pham Quang Tung and held a working session with the VDB on June 6.

The Deputy PM hoped that Pham Quang Tung would continue to develop VDB as a financial tool of the State running under market economy rules and make it operate effectively.

He noted that VDB should be a strong financial institution with rapid and sustainable development serving the sustainable development goals of the nation.

Deputy PM Hue asked for the restructuring of VDB to address the backlog of work including the operational and organisational model, operational mechanism and management related issues, among others.

He also told the bank to soon complete the draft decree on investment and export credit in accordance with international commitments in addition to provisions on short-term loans, lending interest rates, provisioning, risk management, the settlement of non-performing loans, and others.
