PM urges effective exploitation of FTAs

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, head of the National Steering Committee for International Economic Integration, has recently signed Directive No. 38/CT-TTg on strengthening the effective implementation and exploitation of the Free Trade Agreements (FTA) which have already taken effect.

Accordingly, the PM has asked the Intersectoral Steering Committee for International Economic Integration to actively direct the acceleration of the execution of the Resolution adopted at the fourth session of the 12th Party Central Committee on effectively implementing international economic integration and maintaining socio-political stability in the context of Vietnam joining new-generation FTAs.

The Intersectoral Steering Committee is also requested to encourage ministries and sectors to deploy the tasks set in the Government’s action programme on the implementation of Resolution No. 06-NQ/TW; conduct a periodical review to ensure that FTAs are seriously implemented; evaluate all arising issues and recommend measures with the aim of enhancing the enforcement efficiency of FTA commitments; and boost the dissemination of FTA-related information in order to help business and people benefit from FTAs.

The PM has called on the ministries, ministry-level agencies and Government’s bodies to arrange adequate resources for the execution of FTAs, whilst supporting the relevant parties in making effective use of the valid FTAs within their management scopes.

They are also asked to simplify their administrative procedures and create the one-stop shop mechanism, aiming to renovate the granting of the relevant permits to businesses, towards reducing the time taken to grant permits, reducing goods clearance costs, and facilitating business activities, as well as the import and export of goods.
