He said the province must strive to improve its economic competitiveness and public administration performance, as well as quickly dealing with any obstacles facing investors.
The government leader made the request while attending a conference on January 19 to call for investment in Phu Yen province, best known as the filming location of the movie Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass.
Located in Vietnam’s south central coast, Phu Yen province has enormous potential to develop its marine industries, tourism and renewable energy.
PM Phuc said that the province needs to join the nationwide reform drive and eliminate bureaucracy in order to create a dynamic government that is welcoming to the people and the business community.
Furthermore, he invited investors to come and do business in Phu Yen province to transform its potential into real economic benefits, while urging them to protect the environment and local culture.
As part of the conference, the province announced a list of 17 projects which have been granted investment licences or approval in principle with a total capital of nearly VND12.4 trillion (US$ 545.6 million).
The same day, the prime minister attended a ceremony to kick off the construction of the Da Rang Bridge, designed to ease congestion in the south of Tuy Hoa, the provincial capital city.
