Vietnam’s trade surplus reaches US$3.39 billion in four months

Vietnam posted a trade surplus of approximately US$700 million for April this year, raising the total trade surplus over the first four months of the year to US$3.39 billion, according to the latest statistics released by the General Department of Customs.

The total import and export value for April was estimated at US$35.7 billion, down 10.8% on the previous month, including US$18.2 billion worth of export revenue, down 13.9% on the previous month,and US$17.5 billion worth of import revenue, a decrease of 7.3% on the previous month.

Vietnam reported a total import and export revenue of US$144.13 billion over the first four months of the year, an increase of 14.4% over the same period in 2017, including US$73.76 billion of export revenue and US$70.37 billion of import revenue, said the General Department of Customs.

Several types of export products to record high export values in April include phones and components with a total export revenue of US$4 billion, and computers, electronic products, and components with a total export turnover of US$2 billion.

In April, computers, electronic products, and components also brought in an impressive import revenue of US$3 billion.
