The Dak Nong provincial People’s Committee held a press conference on July 12 to announce the programme.
Accordingly, the programme will include a trade fair to connect the supply and demand of avocados, a seminar on seeking ways to develop the fruit sustainably, and field trips to avocado farming areas.
The activities are expected to collect opinions and scientific foundations from ministries, sectors, experts, scientists and businesses to perfect the locality’s planning and strategy on improving the fruit’s value.
According to Vice Chairwoman of Dak Nong provincial People’s Committee, Ton Thi Ngoc Hanh, Dak Nong is one of the localities with the largest avocado farming areas and output in Vietnam.
The province now has nearly 2,600ha of avocado farming areas, accounting for some 20% of the local fruits’ cultivation area, with an average output of 10-15 tonnes per hectare.
