Bonded warehouse inaugurated at An Giang’s Khanh Binh border economic zone

A bonded warehouse was inaugurated by Hai Thinh Phat company at the Khanh Binh border economic zone in Vietnam’s An Giang province and the Chrey Thom border economic zone in Cambodia’s Kandal province on December 30.

The construction of the complex commenced in February 2018 with a total area of 30.3ha and a total investment of nearly VND100 billion (US$4.3 million).

The project includes a bonded warehouse, an inspection centre for import-export goods, a location to gather and transfer goods, restaurants, hotels, a gas station, a tourism service centre, and a space displaying typical products of Vietnam and Cambodia.

Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chairman of An Giang provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh said that the bilateral trade volume between Vietnam and Cambodia which has continuously increased over recent years and it is expected to rise to US$5 billion in the next few years.

Vietnam and Cambodia reported a total import-export revenue of US$3.5 billion in the first nine months of 2018, up 22.9% compared to the same period in 2017. The total export revenue between Vietnam’s An Giang province and two Cambodian provinces of Kandal and Takeo was estimated at over USS$313 million in the first 11 months of 2018, up 15% over the same period in 2017.

Binh noted that the warehouse will contribute to promoting border trade between the two provinces as well as the two countries in the future.
