NDO – The construction of Lavifarm, the first farmer support centre in the country, began on April 26 in Binh Phu commune, Cang Long district, the Mekong River Delta province of Tra Vinh.

The event was attended by Politburo member and Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan.

Covering an area of nearly 17 hectares, the project consists of four main areas: a supermarket, a service area, an area for processing and packaging projects, and a store.

The Lavifarm centre will play an important role in supporting and consulting farmers regarding reasonable suitable crops, technical solutions and agricultural materials as well as the processing and preservation of agricultural products.

The centre will have a capacity to transplant one million soft-bodied plants per year and cultivate seedlings for 1.5 million trees per year along with packaging 15.6 tonnes of vegetables per day.

Its 10-hectare experimental garden is expected to have a total production of around 250 tonnes of vegetables, tubers and fruits.

On the occasion, the centre’s investor, Lavifood, announced a software solution to support farmers called E-Farm.

The system will help farmers to set plans, monitor and analyse activities in their growing areas more easily and actively.
