It means the average registered capital size of an enterprise was over VND12.7 billion (US$546,100), the highest recorded in recent years, according to the General Statistics Office.
These new enterprises employed an estimated 832,300 workers, up 13.3% over the same period in 2018.
With VND1.6 billion additional investment by active enterprises, the total capital poured into the Vietnamese economy in the January-August was more than VND2.75 quadrillion (US$118.25 billion).
The period also saw 25,500 enterprises returning to business, up 21.8% year on year.
The national statistical agency added that the number of enterprises which temporarily halted their business in the first eight months of 2018 was an estimated 20,000, down 7% from a year earlier.
