Agro-forestry-fishery exports estimated at US$30 billion in first nine months

The total export value of the agricultural, forestry and fishery sector in the nine months of 2019 increased by 2.7%, while the export value was at US$23.6 billion, down 0.7% compared to the same period last year.

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), the export value of the main agricultural products were at US$13.9 billion, the seafood export value were estimated at nearly U$$6.23 billion, while the export value of the main forestry products was US$7.93 billion.

Several items witnessed significant increases in export value in the first nine months with exports reaching over US$2 billion included woodwork items, coffee, rice, cashew, fruits and vegetables, and shrimp.

Accordingly, the MARD said that the whole sector is focusing on implementing measures to promote trade promotion activities, remove trade barriers, expand export markets and encourage domestic consumption.

The Ministry has actively supported businesses in actively deploying and effectively exploiting the opportunities provided by free trade agreements and strengthening market development activities.
