Record numbers for newly established businesses in 2019

The total number of newly-established enterprises in 2019 was over 138,100 with total registered capital of VND1.7 quadrillion (over US$73.5 billion), up 5.2% and 17%, respectively, against last year, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

If including over VND2.2 quadrillion of additional registered capital of enterprises, the total registered capital pouring into the economy in 2019 was at more than VND4 quadrillion.

The number of enterprises resuming their operations was aover 39,000, up nearly 16% compared to the previous year.

The total number of newly-established firms and firms resuming operations hit more than 177,500 companies, breaking the record of around 165,000 firms last year.

The total number of registered labourers of newly established enterprises this year was 1.2 million, increasing by 13.3% against the same period last year.

However, the number of enterprises that suspended their business operation in the nine months of this year is at 28,700, up 5.9% compared to the same period last year, while 43,700 others ceased operations or are waiting to be dissolved, a year-on-year increase of 41.7%.
