Vietnamese and Chinese authorities already agreed on February 19 that the checkpoint will re-open for exports and imports from 8am to 5pm starting from February 20.
To be eligible for clearance, the goods in question must come with commercial contracts between the two sides.
In the meantime, the Chinese side has yet to allow the exchange of goods by residents across the border.
Chinese authorities also asked vehicles carrying goods to return to Vietnam within the day of entering China as a precautionary measure against the new coronavirus Covid-19.
Vehicles must also be disinfected while drivers must wear face masks and protective suits, and are not allow to get out of their vehicles, Chinese authorities said.
According to Ly Kim Soi, director of the health quarantine centre, more health workers have been dispatched to the Tan Thanh border gate to work with other forces in guiding drivers to comply with epidemic prevention regulations.
When returning to Vietnam, drivers must undergo health checks and discard protective gears at the checkpoint but are not required to be quarantined for 14 days.
