A conference on the implementation of the promotional programme was held by the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade on June 18.

Under the programme, consumers will have the chance to purchase quality products at reasonable prices, access the best sales methods and promotions, and enjoy full consumer rights.

Thus far, as many as 1,200 companies headquartered or having branches in Da Nang have registered to participate in the stimulus and discount programme, including 404 local firms who have registered with a total funding of VND603 billion (roughly US$26 million).

About 244 promotional activities will be implemented in various forms, such as sales promotion (directly and online), presenting gifts and offering discounts of up to 80% for products until 10pm each day. These activities will continue until the end of 2020.

Nguyen Ha Bac, Director of the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade, said that the market has recently begun to rebound but purchasing power remains low. In May 2020, revenue from retail sales of goods increased by 19% compared to April, but the April figure seemed rather unremarkable. Therefore, he stressed the need to design a plan to help businesses be more proactive in stimulating consumers’ shopping demand.
