The 15-hectare square, featuring statues, pedestrian streets, ornamental fountains and green trees, is a place for organising festivals, culture and arts events, and sporting activities.

It is also the main public space for the seaside city of Sam Son with a capacity of 10,000 people.

Along with the square, Sun Group will also build an ecological resort area, an amusement park and an urban area nearby, which are expected to create more tourism products in Sam Son and turn the city into a key tourism destination in Vietnam.

Highlighting the significance of the project, Thanh Hoa leaders asked Sun Group to ensure the work is completed on schedule, complies with relevant laws, and meets environmental and labour standards.

At the ground-breaking ceremony, a representative from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced the Prime Minister’s decision to award the national special site status to a complex of historical sites and scenic spots in Sam Son.

They include Doc Cuoc Temple, Co Tien Temple, To Hien Thanh Temple, Tranh Buddhist Temple, Trong Mai Rock, and Vinh Son Village Beach, where President Ho Chi Minh hauled the net along with local fishermen in 1960, among others.
