BOT contract signed for North-South expressway’s Nha Trang – Cam Lam section

A Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) contract for the construction of the Nha Trang – Cam Lam expressway, a subproject of the North-South expressway, was signed in Hanoi on May 6.

The Ministry of Transport and the Son Hai Group (the main investor in the project) signed the contract this morning, making the Nha Trang – Cam Lam expressway project the first PPP project on the North-South expressway signed between the Ministry of Transport and the investor.

The Nha Trang – Cam Lam expressway is one of the three subprojects of the Eastern section of the North-South expressway project being implemented in the form of public – private partnership (PPP).

The section, located in Khanh Hoa province, has total investment of over VND5.5 trillion (US$239 million) including over VND2.5 trillion from the investor and over VND2.9 trillion from the State budget.

The 50km expressway with its 17m in width is designed to have four lanes and a speed limit of 80km per hour. The expressway will also include a road tunnel crossing Doc San Mountain 700m in length, as well as several bridges.

The project will be implemented over two years and a payback period of about 16 years and four months.
